1. Who are you?

2. What do you do?

I play live electronic dance sets powered by Ableton live 8 🙂 i also DJ here and there, produce tracks, and casually do fashion design stuff.
3. Where do you often create / produce?
My cute room in Pittsburgh, PA.

4. When?

I usually operate between the hours of 10pm and 5am.

5. Why do you play music?

For much of my life it was the only thing that made me feel good about being a person. It’s an obsession as well, especially because i love to dance and i love to help encourage said dancing. Live music is a really important release.

6. When did you start making music?

I discovered Garageband when i was 15 and made some truly horrendous pop tracks.

7. Which track defines you the most?

Hmmm this is a hard one.. “Let Your Body Rock” by Cybonix is one of my all time faves, reminds me to let the music overtake my body.

8. How would you describe your own music?

I’ve always been really frustrated by the way music is pigeonholed by genre (despite being unavoidable) so i try to play in between those lines. When i go to the club i want to hear jungle, dnb, footwork, hard techno, odd rhythms, and experimental/noise madness, so i guess that’s what i’m going for when i produce. It’s hard to explain sometimes so i just say “experimental club/dance music”.

9. Any track of the moment?

Two of my faves right now are“Yales Danzan” by Sir Speedy and “Suck Shit (feat. LustSickPuppy and RAFiA)” from Machine Girl’s new album.

10. What influences your work?

Dance/movement, and the dance floor are my main influences, and more recently i’m inspired by rhythms that encourage headbanging. Dance and movement is such an important and liberating form of expression and i’ve always found solace in the dance floor as a place of healing.

11. What’s your academic background? Are you an autodidact?

I’ve always struggled a lot in academic environments, growing up i was placed in lower level classes and was told by a psychologist that i had a “math disability”. Music and creativity was the only thing that made sense to me growing up, and i was able to succeed in my public high school’s music department which honestly was the one thing that kept me in high school. I attended a music college for two years, studied electronic music production and learned a lot, but still really struggled because of the high stress environment/work load. I’d say a lot of my knowledge is self-taught but also learned through hands-on experience.

12. Favorite designer?

Oy there are so many amazing underground designers out there right now! Some of my favorites are Shop Cyber Angels, 8 Palms, Roach, Valentina Vargas, Possessed, Sevali, just to name a few.

13. Favorite book?

14. Favorite classic movie?

Probably Paulieand Dark Crystal.

15. Favorite music label?

16. Your dream collaboration?

I’d love to sing with Christina Aguilera. lol. She would obviously be way better than me

17. Are you analog or digital?

Digital baby!! Infinite possibilities in the world of DAW’s and computer music. I like to play with hardware from time to time also.

18. Which softwares/tools/instruments do you use?

I use Ableton live 8 with max for live plugins. To control everything i use an Akai MPD32, it’s kind of a dinosaur but i’ve been using it for almost 8 years and probably will until the end.

19. Describe your creative process?

I get really caffeinated (energy drinks are my vice), vape some thc, and jiggle around in my chair making compositions in clip mode with the Ableton drum rack & sampler. All my tracks are entirely made from samples so i dig thru my sample folder to find weird and freaky stuff as well as hard hitting drum samples & breaks. With the Ableton sampler you can alter samples in so many exciting ways.

20. When are you the most prolific (creatively) ?

Very late at night when my focus is in the right place.

21. Any favorite record stores? (Real/Virtual)

Bandcamp!!! & shows where artists sell their merch 🙂

22. What’s your life philosophy? (Optimistic/Pessimistic)

Be genuine and honest with yourself & others. Be creative without worrying about what others will think because realness will always prevail. Lift up your community.

23. Do you have a healthy lifestyle?

I have a lot of food sensitivities so i am gluten free & vegan, would not recommend because it is hard and very annoying. I think i take pretty good care of myself. I replace exercise with dancing and working in bar service lol.

24. How do you manage your time effectively ? (Job/Hobby)

I’m extremely privileged to only have to work part time, so that 3-4 days out of the week can be devoted to music and whatever else. That being said I work in the service industry which is pretty taxing but i’ve gotten much better at forgiving myself when i don’t have the energy to do music stuff.

25. Any secret skills?

I have a sound system and i used to do diy live sound when i lived in Boston and very often when i live in Philadelphia. sS far no one in Pittsburgh has needed my services 😛 it feels really good to help make music shows happen, even if i have to deal with live drums. LOL

26. Any future plans?

I’m really comfortable here in Pittsburgh and despite being born and raised on the east coast i’m set on staying here a while. got a new full-length in the works. Hoping to tour the UK and EU someday, along with a national US tour. If i get burnt out in the service industry i’ve thought very seriously about going into social services or becoming an EMT.

27. What’s your life motto?

Keep it weird, life’s too short! fuck bullies. Pay reparations. Look out for people & hold them close.

28. Any ‘mot de la fin’?

Living in such a url world, it’s important to remember how irl experiences shape us. I think a lot about growing up in the 90s and early 2000s in a pre-internet/pre-smart phone world, i miss it so much sometimes and i’m really grateful to have grown up in that era. The internet & computers are powerful tools but they can cloud perception of real life (in my own experience). So go talk on a landline or go outside and pet a tree 😉 xoxo
