1. Who are you?
My name is Thoom.
2. What do you do?
I am a musician among other things.
3. Where do you often create/produce?
In my room or a studio.
I usually start in the morning.
5. Why do you play music?
Because music is holy.
6. When did you start making music?
Hard to say but I have always been involved in music. I used to play violin when I was younger and guitar. But started producing my own stuff on the computer in 2016.
7. Which track defines you the most?
I think Dido – Life for Rent. My dad would play us her album in the morning it was the only english cd he would put on. Especially the lyrics:
“I haven’t ever really found a place that I call home
I never stick around quite long enough to make it
But if my life is for rent and I don’t learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
’cause nothing I have is truly mine”
8. How would you describe your own music?
I’m making sing along songs now.
9. Any track of the moment?
Hirakish – Superstar. I love him.
10.What influences your work?
Absolutely everything around me.
11.What’s your academic background? Are you an autodidact?
I have a BFA in fine arts. I’m not that good at teaching myself but I’m curious and learn a lot through my own intuition.
I haven’t really read much in a while.

Pier Pasolini films between the 60’s to the 80’s.

Digital and I use a lot of instruments.
18.Which soft wares/tools/ instruments do you use/play?
Ableton, guitar, a lot of drums, my voice.
19.Describe your creative process?
It changes all the time, sometimes I will stop making music for a while and start painting again or watch a lot of films. I also belly dance a lot and I’m sure it has some influence on my music.
20.When are you the most prolific (creatively)?
It changes, it used to be out of frustration, alienation and depression. In the album I am working on now, I am gathering inspiration from a lot of different places.
21. Any favorite record stores? (Real/virtual)
Grammaphone records in Chicago.
22.What’s your life philosophy? (Optimistic/pessimistic)
I dont know, sometimes very hard to exist in this world but sometimes I enjoy suffering.
23.Do you have a healthy lifestyle?
No, not really. It’s stupid but I will maybe get there eventually.
24.How do you manage your time effectively? (Job/hobby)
I don’t but I’m trying.
25. Any secret skills?
I have a lot of those.
26. Any future plans?
To make friends!
27.What’s your life motto?
The only way to get through life is to romanticize it.
