1. Who are you?
Jae + Gus.
2. What do you do?
We perform as Boy Harsher.
3. Where do you often create/produce?

4. When?
Gus – all the time.
Jae – sometimes.
5. When did you start making music?
Gus – In high school. I was given a guitar at some point.
Jae – Gus convinced me to try in late 2013, but I was still really shy. I would be just reading some stuff I wrote and hiding in the corner or on the floor.
6. Which track defines you the most?
Jae – I think the most “heard” song is probably Pain, people seem to like it.
But I’m partial to Spell and Last Days. Hopefully more.
7. How would you describe your own music?
Jae – Sad dance music … maybe?
8. Any track of the moment?
Jae – I play Time to Tell by Cosey Fanni Tutti basically when I get home every night.
Gus – Yello – Oh Yeah
9. What influences your work?
Gus – Not exactly sure.
Jae – Strong women, fighters, modes of desire.
10. What’s your academic background? Are you an autodidact?
We both went to film school, but in terms of music are untrained.
Jae – I went to SUNY Purchase + then graduate school! My twin had voice lessons and definitely has the singing voice in the family, so it’s funny that I wound up being the one who sings.
Gus- I took some music theory courses in school.
11. Favorite book?
Jae – I love Ray Carver, I read his short stories over and over again. Joan Didion’s Play It as It Lays is obvious, but I love it.Lara Mimosa Montes just put out a book of poetry called The Somnambulist. It’s beautiful; unsettling and sad. RRLEW’s twitter feed also always seems to make my day.
Always need more items to read though.
12. Favorite classic movie?
Gus – The Shining.
Jae – Night of the Hunter is so good. Robert Mitchum, man of my dreams.
13. Your dream collaboration?
Gus – Gaspar Noe or Denis Villeneuve
Jae – I’d like to sing for a Merle Haggard style country band with all my friends. A ‘bud-light’ tour.
14. Are you analog or digital?
Gus – Both.
15. Which soft wares/tools/ instruments do you use/play? !
Gus – Been using Ableton for about a year now. You can plug anything into that.
Jae – My voice.
16. Describe your creative process?
Gus – Try not to force anything. I work on whatever I feel excited about at that given time.
Jae – Trying to write down everything I can. Even if it’s not interesting to yet.
Melding our processes is the real challenge. We delete most of what we work on…
17. When are you the most prolific (creatively)?
Jae – In the middle of the night.
Gus – Varies.
Gus – Both
Jae – Both
19. Do you have a healthy lifestyle?
Jae – I just ate a bag of popcorn for dinner, so no I don’t think so.
Gus – I teeter between extreme squalor and a healthy lifestyle.
20. How do you manage your time effectively? (Job/hobby)
We don’t. We’re always running around like maniacs.
21. Any secret skills?
Jae – I wish.
Gus – I make a pretty good red sauce.
22. Any future plans?
We wanna’ move somewhere warmer. Somewhere with a community. We’re pretty isolated out here. So we’ve been thinking about Florida or California, along those lines.
23.What’s your life motto?
See below.
24. Any “mot de la fin”?
Jae – Keep truckin’!
