Q&A : Jeremy Glenn

1) Who are you?

Jeremy Glenn.

2) What do you do?

  Singer, producer and performer.

3) Where do you often create/produce?

At my home studio.

4) When?

Whenever inspiration strikes and I’ve got the time and the facility to do so.

5) Why do you play music?

It’s one of the few things that brings me joy.

1) Which track defines you the most?

Lyrically, I think that “New Life” sums up a lot of how I feel about life in general and who I am but musically I would say my remix of Sunshine; darker, quirkier and with random changes here and there.

2)Any track of the moment?

I’m a big fan of my collaborator Mickey and though not it’s his latest track I’ve been playing out his Claptone remix of “No Eyes” a lot recently.                                          Great energy and perfect for sustaining the dance floor.

3) What influences your work?

Everything from daily interactions with people, world events and new and interesting producers and music I hear as well as a lot of the music I’ve grown up with from soul to folk, pop to underground.

4) Do you consider yourself as an Artist? If so, why?

In the sense that I feel a need to create, yes.                                                                          But I don’t necessarily consciously react to an event and decide to create something based on that.

 5) What’s your academic background? Are you an autodidact?

I have a degree in Philosophy and studied as well as taught audio engineering.              I studied some music but I am mostly self-taught.

6) Favorite designer?

Fashion: YSL

 Architecture: Frank Gehry.

7) Favorite Classic movie?

“Lawrence of Arabia”. I love the vistas, and especially the music.                                     Also, there’s something about the bravado of those older actors that’s just hilarious and fun to watch.

8)Favorite book?

“Animal Farm”. Never has politics been so well written.

9) Favorite word(that you most overuse)?

10) Favorite music label?

This is too hard to answer.

11) Your dream collaboration?

Prince or  Brian Eno. Both have a great musical genius but where Prince seems to speak to me on a lyrical and guttural level, Eno speaks to me on an atmospheric and auditory level.

12) What’s your life motto (quote)?

I suppose I should really come up with one but I don’t have one.

13) Any “mot de la fin”?

All know your heart; it’s all you’ve got.
